Mas le Serre - a beautifully restored old “Mas Provencal” – traditional farmhouse - 800 metres from the centre of the village of Claviers, just north of Draguignan and about 30 minutes by car from the resorts of Frejus and St Raphaël – west of Cannes. The property is full of character and has amazing panoramic views and a lovely private swimming pool - 9m x 4.5m. Claviers is a small well-preserved village in unspoilt countryside of vineyards and olive groves. The village is built on a rocky ridge at an altitude of 400m surrounded by hills of olive groves, pinewoods and green oak with the houses in a semicircle looking down over a valley with the river Riou gliding slowly past. Claviers has typical little streets with old houses of stone with sculpted doorways. It has a population of only 600 people with some local shops and two restaurants – a welcome retreat from the bustle and pressure of everyday 21st century. Horse-riding, tennis courts and golf at the St Andreol golf course are all only about 15 minutes’ drive away.

Area Description:

Draguignan is the regional capital of the departement of the Var with a population of 30,000 and many restaurants and shops and a provencal market every morning. Lovely avenues lined with plane trees surround the old city which has ancient houses with sculptured doors and impressive portals. There are several old squares each with its own history including Place aux Herbes, Place de l' Oberservance and Place du Cros. The Tour de l'Horloge, the market place, the ancient chapels and the St. Michel Church should all be seen. Draguignan has several interesting museums - in particular the Musee des Arts et Traditions Provencales which has an extensive exhibition of traditional crafts and materials. In summer there are many evenings of free musical entertainment and various festivals - Draguifolies and the olive fair. To the north the superb scenery of the Gorges de Verdon and Lac de Sainte Croix are 40km with the beaches of the mediterranean Riviera also only 40km to the south.
