Property Description:

Charming design and lovely views across the valley characterise these two stylish, fully-equipped apartments. Both flats have their own sitting areas near the house and more secluded areas in the cool and shady grounds. An attraction of Les Rossignols and a real rarity is the 30 by 30 meter stretch of natural, chemical free pond. For swimmers there is easy access to the water by stone stairs or a wooden pier, or simply relax in the covered pergola on comfortable summer furniture.

The apartment has 1 bedroom with twin beds (2 single beds in one room) and an en suite shower-room with toilet.

The dining/ living room with open-plan kitchen has also a separate shower-room with toilet. The sofabed in the living/ dining room can be used as a single or a double bed.

Access to both rooms is via a large conservatory. Both rooms have central heating and the conservatory has a iron stove which provides a particulary cosy warmth. The wood is provided.

The apartment for 4 adults is also possible, because there are 2 shower-rooms with wc. The Sofabed is specially designed and it is a proper bed, with good mattresses and it could be either changed it into a sofa in a corner, which takes less space - or changed into a proper twinbed.

If clients want to rent both , apartment and suite and want to use the citchen/ dining/living of the apartment together - we could put the big dining-table (which is now in the suite) and which is big enough for to seat 6-8 poeple in the living/dining room of the apartment,or in summerseason in the conservatory of the apartment

The apartment has a dishwasher, Television and Videorecorder.
The Television is in French and only during the day it's possible to see CNN or BBC-NEWS. In the evening we have german- TV- via satelite.

Clients should know, that the owners animals are always staying in the house taken care of by Anne the housekeeper who lives very near.

A very big, but completely harmless dog called Elliott. He runs around freely and loves strictly everybody,and he behaves! He doesnīt go into the apartments or jump on people's laps and if you donīt want him around he will leave you alone.

The cat Max isnīt too excited about visitors, so he prefers to watch from a distance. But he also runs around as he pleases (except of course in the rented part of the house). But Elliot loves guests. So for people with really serious cat and dog allergies, this might not the best place to come to.

There is not a swimming pool, but there is a completly chemical free swimming pond. The pond after many years of planting and care has developped into a precious little oasis. But of course it REALLY is nature, including the frogs in the water, the dragon flys and if you are very lucky the odd (harmless) snake. So it might not be the right choice for people who have a hard attack at the vision of a spider...It is the greatest joy for people who apreciate to swim in an natural enviroment, without the red eyes and the painful allergies to chlorine. There are big stone stairs to get in the water, or a from which you can jump.

The owners have considered and have decided that they cannot accept small children. There are two simple reasons for it: first the security (there is an open swimming pond and a private bassin, a big dog, and so on....) and second is the great calm promised to the guests. The owners want their home to stay as relaxing and quiet as possible

This is a very special house, the owners live in part ofthe house but it is very difficult to adequately describe the nature of the apartments . . . so here is a description in their own words.

" We have lived in Roussillon since 1981. After visiting friends here in 1970 we fell in love with the region and bought the land in 1975. We build the house slowly and in some ways still are...

. . . My husband is a pianist and composer and has his own recording studio in the house, but donīt worry, the studio is an other part of our house and it is sound proof !! Our guests wonīt be bothered."

"Most important for us was that once finished it didnīt look new and was kept in the Provencal style. So we used only old and precious materials (old terra cotta tiles, old roof tiles, old beams, real ocre painting for the walls and shutters....) But of course we also wanted the luxuries of this century (central heating, big double glazed windows, heatable conservatories etc...)
The house is in 3 seprated parts:

1. Music studio and bibliothek,
2. Our living room and kitchen,
3. The bed rooms.


Our bed room is in the first floor , but there is no connection to the guest apartments wich are in the groundfloor.

The apartments have their own terrasses over looking the valley. These are places ONLY used by the guests (our own terrasses are behind the house or in the first floor). A part from the terrasses infront of each guest apartment, their are also more hidden places in the shade of trees and around the pond (garden furniture are standing every were).

Les Rossignols is set in beautiful surroundings. The house and its four hectares of land are situated between the picturesque hilltop villages of Gordes and Roussillon in the heart of Provence.
