Bordered by two rivers with sloping hills and terraced vineyards and olive trees the old centre of Lorgues has many ancient facades, shady courtyards and narrow winding streets. There are lots of restaurants and shops in Lorgues and a locally-famous Tuesday provencal market. It has a population approaching 9000 people and is the gateway to the Var countryside. To the north the superb scenery of the Gorges de Verdon and Lac de Sainte Croix are 40km with the beaches of the mediterranean Riviera also only 40km to the south.
