Property Description:

This large (250m2) old farmhouse was renovated with care and is located among vineyards and orchards that go right up to the property. It is isolated on the side of a easily sloping hill providing an incredible view of valleys, hills and mountains, but a village (Vinsobres) and a town (Valreas) are only 3.5 km away. A large living room looking out over the countryside provides an excellent area for relaxing, reading, TV or whatever suits one's fancy. 3 double beds, 4 singles and a number of futons are available. The non-cemented, filtered swimming pool is guarded by a fence built according to French law and a 2000m2 lawn interspersed with pine trees adjoins the house.

Area Description:

La Grande Bellane is situated in the wine-growing region on the east side of the Rhone valley. Apart from the vineyards that surround the house on three sides and the almond tree orchard in front, lavender fields and apricot orchards are abundant a little further away. Short drives to various sites are also quite feasible: wine-tasting, for example, at the many local wineries (Chaeauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Cairanne, etc.), and excellent restaurants abound. Some historical sites nearby are a Templar fortress at Richerenches, the chateau of Madame Sevingy at Grignan and the Roman ruins at Vaison-la-Romaine, while Nyons and Sainte Cecile have excellent Provencal markets. Hiking trails can be found everywhere and a 1 1/2 hour drive brings you to canoeing and kayaking along the canyons of the Ardeche as well as marvelous grottos and caverns to explore. Horseback riding can be had at Grignan. For children, a 15-minute drive to Vinsobres puts you at Sagittaire, a pool and game complex, including water slides.
