Area Description:

Situated in the heart of Provence Vert (Green Provence), the villa makes an excellent base for exploring this delightful area that has so many picturesque mediaeval towns and villages, churches, abbeys, chateaux, vineyards and caves within easy reach, it's hard to know where to begin. For a day at the coast, choose from one of the 12 quite different coves at Le Lavandou, the long, long sandy beaches of Hyeres, the charming little fishing port of Cassis from where you can take a boat trip to the Calanques (fijord-like inlets), or the glamour and people-watching of St Tropez. All less than 1 hour's drive south. About the same distance north of Barbaroux, a drive around the top of the spectacular Grand Canyon du Verdon, Europe's largest and deepest gorge, will simply take your breath away with fantastic photo opportunities at virtually every twist of the winding road. At the base of the gorge the shores of Lac de Ste-Croix offer the perfect picnic spot as well as the chance to swim, sail, or maybe rent a pedallo or kayak for the afternoon.

Cycling, Walking, Climbing, Horse riding, Tennis, Swimming & water sports, Fishing, Kayaking & Canoeing are also available close by, with skiing in the winter months about 3 hours drive north.
