Property Description:

This non-smoking home has been beautifully and lovingly restored with gourmet kitchen, modern baths, extra hot water heaters, brand-new comfortable beds, authentic provencal antique furnishings, and interior appointments. The kitchen and dining room open with three French doors directly into the private courtyard which has a stone table seating ten. The dining room table is an antique refectory table seating 12. Off the courtyard is a master suite with queen-size bed and private bath, unique vaulted ceiling, original fireplace, and original ceramic tiles. A lovely sitting room with an authentic bread oven is also accessd from the courtyard through double doors.

A spiral staircase leads from the dining room up to the living room on the second floor, view of tress, vineyards, lavender fields, and in spring, winter, and fall, the village of Roussillon and the Luberon Mountain. A master suite off the living room has private terrace, king-size bed, beamed ceilings, private in-suite bath with tub, shower, sink, bidet. Living room also has beamed ceilings, bookshelves with books, games, CD player, video cassettes, satellite TV. Second-floor wing with lovely large room with fireplace, twin beds, stunning view of vineyards, lavender fields, and the Luberon mountain range. Smaller bedroom, twin beds, with the same view is also in this portion of the house. These two bedrooms share a bathroom.

The private pool is across the lane, nestled in a lovingly tended garden with lavender, climbing roses, annual flowers, oleander, and fig trees. Lunch under the shade of a cherry tree at the other stone table, get lost in a book, or snoozed in the shade to the songs of birds and cicadas. The garden area also features a stone dining table and spectacular view of the Luberon.


Area Description:

Les Gardiols is located in the heart of the Luberon Valley "Golden Triangle" region made famous by Peter Mayle. The home lies on the edge of a Hamlet,Gardiols,which is attached to the small village of Joucas. It lies between a vinyard and a field of Lavender. You are located in the midst of a number of perched villages, each different in character.. You will be able to see the red village of Roussillon off to the east, Gordes to the immediate west and Marquis de Sade's castle at Lacoste to the south. Apt an old roman settlement is the closest large village. The walled-city of Avignon, location of the famous bridge, is a short drive away and its Palace des Papes, and museum, are certainly worth a visit.Stop at the summer home of the popes, Chateauneur du Pape, and sample the fine, reasonably priced wine. Wonderful Mediterranean beaches are an hour's drive and Monoco is just over two hours away.

Area Activities

In the peaceful mornings, you can take a 7 minute scenic walk up the hill to the perched medieval village of Joucas for your fresh bread and croissants, or drive no more than 10 minutes to Gordes, Roussillon, and Goult which are all picturesque villages and each with a different allure. Delicious local, reasonably priced wines can be found at local co-ops and nearby domaines with world famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape just less than one hour away. Besides wine, a route des oliviers runs from the Luberon to St Remy. Here one can discover to fine tasty olive oil, olives and tapanades. Alternately you may also eat at one of the many world-class and Michelin star rated restaurants in the vicinity. You will be enjoying the nature preserve for walks, bike rides, canoeing, ballooning, and antiquing. Tennis, golf, and horseback riding opportunities can be found nearby.This is the short list.
