Property Description:
On the first floor Bedroom 1 sleeps two people and is a double bedded room with an exposed beamed ceiling, there is a ensuite bathroom off comprising bath with shower over, toilet and wash basin. Bedroom 2 sleeps four people and has a bunk beds and 2 single beds, there is a selection of toys, a TV, and a selection of films in this room. Bedroom 3 sleeps two people and has a double bed. Bedroom 4 sleeps one or two people and has a single bed which pulls out to form a double (with two single mattresses). There is also a cot and a changing unit situated in this room.The bathroom has a low sloping ceiling and comprises a bath with hand held shower unit, a bidet and a wash basin. There is a separate toilet.
On the ground floor there is a traditional French oak fitted kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, fridge, electric oven and gas hob. The kitchen is furnished with a table and chairs to seat four people. The kitchen leads to a dining room with large table and seating for 8-10 people. Off the dining room is a shower room and a separate toilet. There is a large lounge with patio doors opening onto the courtyard, an open fireplace and exposed beams. The lounge is equipped with a 36" wide screen TV with free view satellite channels and a DVD player. Beyond the lounge is Bedroom 5 which sleeps 2 people in a double bed.
Area Description:
We are located at the edge of the village of Oulmes which has numerous amenities within walking distance. We are 20 minutes to the Renaissance town of Fontenay-le-comte (with local Saturday market) and the city of Niort. Both places have large hypermarkets, restaurants and many other shops and boutiques. The nearest supermarket is 10 minutes away.e are on the edge of the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice), a vast area of wetlands reclaimed from the sea a thousand years ago, the Marais is ideal for walking and cycling with many designated trails. There are numerous port areas around the Marais close by.
Area Activities
Maillezais is 10 minutes away with its historic Abbeu of St Peter founded in the 10th century. Nearby Nieul-sur-l'Autise is home to the abbey of St Vincent. The forest of Mervent is less than half an hour away and has over 12,000 acres of mixed woodland, with over thirty varieties of tree. There are inland lakes, some with lakeside beaches and water sports, a small zoo and an amusement park (Parc de Pierre Brune). The forest provides ideal days out for walking, riding, cycling and picnics. We are 1 hour from the lovely Vendee coast, known for its wonderful coastline and year round warm climate, vast sandy beaches, sea fishing, mussel and oyster farming. Beaches close by include L'Aiguillon sur Mer, Faute sur Mer, La Tranche sur Mer and Les Sables d'Olonne famous for The Vendee Globe yacht race, fantastic beach and Zoo. The beautiful historic harbour of La Rochelle with its two towers and the Aquarium, La Rochelle also provides the opportunity to take a boat trip to visit the adjacent islands. Visit the island of Ile de Re accessible by car for fantastic beaches with calm shallow waters, the island also host numerous oyster bed farms which sell direct to the public. Just over 1 hour away Futuroscope is a futuristic theme park featuring extraordinary cinematic shows and architecture and the famous Vendee park of the Puy du Fou provides entertainment for the whole day.
