Property Description:

This 200-year-old Provencal house has an interesting history as an artist haven and dance hall. The character of the house is apparent in the architectural details and furnishings. Exposed stone walls are complimented by the warm fireplace in the living room. Beautiful swimming pool with cabana and stone surround. Lounge furniture included.

All bedrooms are on the second floor, all but one look out over the garden. One master suite has an adjoining entertainment center with small study and separate area for entertaining with TV, CD, DVD, lounges and futon. All other bedrooms have either double beds or twin. Each room has a decoration theme in keeping the French diaspora.

You will feel the life of Provence when you walk in the door or sit in the eat-in kitchen looking out at the garden. The formal dining room seats 10, The house is filled with light and sun, the rooms are very spacious.
Provencal art, furnishings and antiques are simple, authentic and comfortable.


Area Description:

The village is located between the Nimes in Provence and Montpellier in Languedoc. The region is the largest wine growing region in France so is still quite rural and green. The small villages are scenic and each has its own particular style and restaurants.

The cities of Nimes and Montpellier offer international shopping, theatre and entertainment. With close proximity to the heart of Provence, including Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, St. Remy or Marseilles, the location is convenient.


Area Activities

There are so many Unesco world heritage sites in this part of France that it is difficult to name them all. The Pont du Gard, the over 2000-year-old Roman bridge and aqueduct is truly impressive and swimming the river below is memorable. The Nimes arena is one of the world's best preserved Roman colisseums; also visit the ampitheatre of Arles. The Roman Via Domita, the 2000-year-old roman road lies along the autoroute, with archeological excavations open to the public.

Further South is the Canal du Midi, southern beaches like Sete and Cap d'Adge. The Spainish border is a 2-hour drive. Visit the medieval walled city of Carcassone and learn about the Cathars and the Holy Grail treasure (1 1/2 hour drive).

To the North are the Cevennes for hiking, fishing and camping. Uzes, the Duchy of France, is one of the most beautiful towns in France. Avignon hosts the world-reknown performing arts festival each summer, but festivals and concerts can be found in most of the surrounding towns or cities throughout the year.

Further east is the historic Saint Maries de Mer in the Camargue which has beautiful white horses and pink flamingos. Visit the hilltop fort of Les Baux en Provence for an afternoon of feudal France. Marseille's port and seafood are only an hour drive.

All the Mediterranean beaches in this area have white sand, some have dunes. Water sports are everywhere, including windsurfing and sailing.
