Property Description:

Les Acacias is a comfortable village house situated in the heart of Roquebrun and within walking distance of all the village amenities. The house can accommodate up to 6 persons with 3 spacious bedrooms on its upper level, an open plan living/dining and large kitchen on the ground floor and French doors leading to a shaded outdoor rear terrace. The terrace has steps leading down to a laneway and covered barn which may be used for parking. There is also a lower level basement/utility area which is accessed by internal stairs.

The house has tiled floors throughout and is well appointed with modern and cosy furnishings. The ample kitchen facilities encourage guests to visit the numerous local markets to buy the abundant, fresh regional produce. Alternatively, there are a number of excellent restaurants in the region which are well worth a visit. A number of restaurants have been recommended in the guest information book in the house.

The traditional construction of the house with thick walls keep the interior cool in summer and an electric storage heater and electric heating in all the rooms also make it an ideal winter let.

Facing south to the warmth of the Mediterranean sun, gateway to the Haut Languedoc Regional Park and at the heart of the St. Chinian vineyard appellation, Roquebrun is uniquely situated as a favourable year-round holiday destination.

The village has a baker, small supermarket, cafe-bar, tabac, two restaurants, a pizzeria, wine co-operative, tourist office, post office and a few small winemakers, all conveniently situated within walking distance of Les Acacias.

Our property managers live nearby and are available for assistance or information.

Area Description:

Roquebrun is nestled in the foothills of the Caroux/Espinouse massif where the waters of the Orb river meet the tranquil landscape of the Mediterranean plain. Within a short distance the scenery changes from rugged mountains via the flat coastal plain of the Bas Languedoc to the sunny shores of the Mediterranean.

The Languedoc is an unspoilt region of sun-soaked coasts and mountains, and imposing cultural monuments. The region abounds with fine wines, superb cuisine and a rich diversity of landscapes.

Languedoc  covers roughly the region between the Rhone and the Aude River, extending northwards to the Cevennes and the Massif Central.
The name derives from Occitan (French: langue d'oc), the language spoken in the region before French became the general usage language.

Languedoc has been settled by the Greeks, Phoenicians and Romans, and invaded by the Alamanni, Vandals, Visigoths, and Saracens. Some parts of this area have been part of the dominions of the kings of Aragon and the kings of Majorca; it did not come under French control until the 16th century.

The Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the most fascinating areas of Europe, bordering the Mediterranean Sea to the east and the Pyrenees Mountains to the south. It benefits from an exceptional climate and has an unusually rich wildlife, a spectacular coast, and surprising history.

Things to see include mountains, rivers and lakes, ancient cities, towns, villages, thermal springs, abbeys, and cathedrals, chateaux and castles, notably the famous mountain fortresses known as the Cathar Castles.
