Property Description:

The house has 2 bedrooms for 2 and 4 persons, a kitchen and dining room, a living room and bathroom with shower and WC. 2 additional sleeping places on the couch in the living. All the rooms are on the groundfloor.
The house is nicely furnished and well equiped to accomodate 6 persons ( max 8).
Right in front of House Mimosa and adjacent House Camelia lays the 6-holes golf course and practice area of the golf club of Mimizan.
It only costs 100 euros to play for the season!
The houses are in the former stables of Chateau Woolsack, built by the Duke of Westminster in 1910, as a copy of House Woolsack built in the typical South African style in Cape Town owned by his friend Cecil Rhodes.
In this place the Duke organised his hunting parties in the area and entertained his famous friends, such as Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin, Coco Chanel, Salvador Dali and many other celebrities of his days until his demise in 1953.
Winton Churchill made here many paintings of the scenery.
In 1980 the former stables were transformed into a living house and further modernised in 2003.
House Mimosa now offers modern comfort in a rural area, where you can relax in the 1900 m2. garden with a magnificent view on the golf course and the sea dunes and forests beyond.

The property lies amidst the forests and dunes of Les Landes, only 4 km. from the sea, and at just 250 m. walking distance from Lake Aureilhan behind the house.
It is a quiet peaceful area, now a "site-classe", a protected area.
Mimizan Village with its shops, postoffice, restaurants, banks and weekly market is at 2 km. from the house.
Mimizan Plage on the Atlantic Coast is at 4 km. from the village.

Springtime and September and October are generally sunny and warm. These are quiet months and perfect for a relaxing holidays.

Area Activities

You can walk from the garden onto the golfcourse.
The Base Nautique on Lake Aureilhan at only 250 m. walk offers facilities for rowing and sailing. You can swimm and fish in the lake or make a walk to the Route Fleurie.
Paths for walking and biking cross the forests. In front of the house is a biking path wich leads across the dunes towards the beach or to other neighbouring villages.
Mimizan Plage has beautiful beaches, is popular for surfers, and has many facilities for leisure, shops,restaurants and bars.
Day trips are recommended to the famous Bordeaux wine-area, the Armagnac, the mountains of the Pyrenees and Biarritz.
Some of the most beautiful golfcourses of France are at just 1hr. drive.
