Property Description:

Froumigue is situated in the hills 6 kms from Villeneuve/Lot, a 13th century "bastide" (fortified town), lying in the heart of Lot-et-Garonne in the South West of France.


The first structure you encounter is the 18th century barn, which has been lovingly restored, retaining the character of the old building- oak beams, rough-hewn stone walls, the original barn doors - yet offering all the comforts of modern living - traditional French style.

The gite sleeps 6 - (4 adults and 2 children). It comprises - 2 double bedrooms (with double beds) - spacious gallery (mezzanine) with 2 full-sized bunk beds. The split-level living/dining area is furnished with local antiques and a wood-burning stove for your comfort.

Set in 5 acres, reached by a winding farm track through woods, surrounded by farm land, La Grange Froumigue, an 18th century farm, has spectacular views of the St. Germain Plateau and over the peaceful valley below. The property, which dominates the valley below, has a pleasant 10 x 5m swimming pool, surrounded by grass and a large terrace, separates the barn from the farm house.

The kitchen is fully-equipped; micro-wave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge- freezer and full-sized electric cooker. Moreover, La Grange Fourmigue has a modern bathroom with large shower. The toilets are separated.

Table tennis and badminton equipment, garden furniture as well as a barbecue to cook in a traditional French Mediterranean way is provided. However, TV is optional at extra cost, as we are certain that this technological device will not needed.

Area Description:

Lot-et-Garonne, which is just south of the Dordogne, is still a well-guarded secret. Yet it has much of the best France has to offer - a warm climate, peaceful pastoral scenery, historic towns and villages, markets, castles and vineyards, many excellent local wines and cheeses, as well as gastronomic specialities such as "foie gras" and "confit de canard". It will entice you to discover it's architecture, gastronomy, quaint open farmers' market and most of all "art de vivre".


Froumigue is 25 km off the A 62 Autoroute, half way between Bordeaux and Toulouse. Both towns are served by regular, scheduled flights from London and other major European cities. Low cost airlines use "Bergerac Airport" only 50 min. by car from "Froumigue. It takes only 4 hours from Paris to Agen (25 kms from the property) by high-speed TGV train.

An 18-hole golf course at Castlenaud, riding at the Chateau de Roge, tennis at Villeneuve tennis-club, water sports on the River Lot are all within 5-15 mins. drive of the gite. You can cycle and hike directly from Froumigue.


EXCURSIONS
The medieval fortified villages of Pujols, Penne d'Agenais and Montflanquin are within 15 mins drive. The Dordogne valley and the vineyards of Bordeaux are only 1 1/2 hrs., and the sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast are only 2 hrs drive from the gite.
"La Maison sur la Place"; at Penne d'Agenais is a must for connaisseurs of good food in a very refined atmosphere; "La Toque Blanche", restaurant gastronomique in Pujols is 5 mins. away and there are also many reasonably-priced restaurants in the area, serving local specialities.
