Property Description:

Typical of Chateaux in the region, Pomiro was once a prominant hunting lodge and until recently the country residence of the Marquis and Marquise de Noe. More an elegant country home than a stately mansion the chateau has 5 spacious guest bedrooms in the main house and 3 bedrooms in the Petite Maison. All have en-suite or private facilities. There is a small gymnasium and games room in the grounds as well as a large swimming pool. The chateau has 10 acres of mature gardens surrounded by a further 200 acres of vines, woods and rolling fields. There is a private lake on the land and guests can borrow fishing equipment if required. The vines produce Armagnac for the Chateau Pomiro appelation as well as "Floc" the local aperitif. Each day the kitchen garden provides fresh vegetables for the guest's meals and the chateau's bee hives and home bred chickens provide the Pomiro honey and eggs.

Area Description:

Called gascony before the French revolution, the Gers is historically the land of the Musketeers and the birthplace of D'Artagnan. Today the region is famous for gastronomy with Foie Gras, Confit de Canard, Croustade and of course the fine brandy Armagnac. Of the many bastide villages local to the chateau, Montreal is the nearest and the roman villa site at Seviac is about 3 minutes by car away.

Area Activities

The Armagnac and wine vineyards in the area welcome visitors to taste their produce. Other activities close to the chateau include Golf at Guinlet, horse riding and fishing at Eauze. The chateau provides bikes for guests wishing to explore the local area. The weekly village markets are very popular with guests and there are many Brocantes in the surrounding area for visitors to browse for that bargain. Lourdes and the mountains of the Pyrenees are about 1 hour from the chateau and a day's trip to the seaside resorts of Biarritz and St Jean de Luz is also very popular. Activities at the chateau include badminton, archery, table tennis and pool.
