This 18th century farmhouse is ideally situated, set on the edge of a hill with panoramic views over beautiful countryside. Only 20 minutes drive from the charming mediaeval Dordogne riverside town of Bergerac. The picturesque market towns of Eymet and Duras are only 10 minutes drive away.
The nearest village, Loubes Bernac, is only 300 metres from Chateau Lafon, making daily life very convenient. Loubes facilities include a bar/restaurant, village shop (daily fresh baguette and croissants) and post office.
This large property is set in the grounds of a wine producer (Cotes de Duras AC), which gives you the freedom to walk anywhere on the 20 hectare estate. The "vendange" (wine harvest) is still done by hand (rare these days) and normally starts during the second week of September. The farmhouse has it own private garden and drive from the local road.

The whole estate is free to residents to roam on. To the left of the property is the wine maker's property and barns. To the right, adjoining the partly covered patio area is the swimming pool (5 m x 10m).
The patio area has lovely views over the countryside and is provided with sufficient patio table and chairs. It also offers shelter from the summer sun

There are a large variety of places of interest and numerous country type pursuits in the surrounding areas. These include a large nearby summer swimming lake with beach, supervised swimming for children, waterslides, canoes, horse riding, water-bikes, playground and cafe/bar.
There are many interesting towns and villages to visit, including the bastide towns of the region such as Eymet. There is a choice of daily traditional markets where local produce is available for sale. The property is set in one of the most important wine regions of France (Bordeaux), providing many opportunities to try and buy a range of wines, many at very reasonable prices. There are numerous local restaurants in the area offering good food at very reasonable prices.
In addition locally there are tennis courts, fishing, canoeing down the river and fabulous countryside for walking and picnic lunches. For the golfer, there are two 18 hole and three 9 hole courses within about a 40 minute drive, including the famous Chateau Vigiers, just 20 minutes away, offering holiday membership. Indeed, the area has something to offer all age groups and interests.
Travelling
The house is about a 5.5 hours drive from Paris. For those wishing to fly/drive the airport of Bordeaux is around 1.5 hours drive. The airport at Bergerac is only 20 minutes drive.
