Basic amenities including a bakery are found about a kilometre down the hill in Sauveterre-La-Lemance. There are a couple of restaurants here, too, one of which is run by the owners of Maison de l'Ebeniste and comes highly recommended. Comprehensive shopping facilities are found in Fumel, about 16km away. Located close to the Lot/Dordogne border, the house is in an ideal location for exploring both areas. The Chateau de Bonaguil is well worth a visit whilst over in the Dordogne, Villefranche du Perigord (10km) is a typical example of a bastide, with its covered market area, ornate pillars and arches.
